during "off tanning season" and christmas break, i had a lot of spare time on my hands... nowadays, not so much- which means less time to blog! however....
i have started something new & thought I'd share it on this blog as one way to get the word out :] the new craze these days might seem crazy and unheard of for fly fishermen all around the universe, but for girls looking to do something fun & semi-permanent to their hair, it's brilliant!
FEATHER HAIR EXTENSIONS!
my feather journey...
the first time i saw feather extensions was a couple months ago. i saw something about them online & then one of my friends who lived in CO for a little while came back with some in her hair! so, i did some searching and found out only 2 salons in Nashville, so far, have feather extensions available and they were all outrageously expensive. so, i did some more searching and i found an awesome website called Etsy. it's a website where people sell handmade items such as art, jewelry, etc. A lot of people were selling 20 or 30 feathers for around $30. I bought a colorful pack of 20 and when I received them in the mail i fell in love. since then, mostly my friends wanted them. so i started doing bundles of 3 for $15. I've had them in ever since i got them in the mail and have had no problems at all! i absolutely love them!!!
since then, I've caught multiple people's attention. all ages, men & women ALL over the place. I've had so many girls ask me on campus, i was waiting for Lacy Jane to try on a dress and a girl came up to me, touched them and was like "OH MY GOSH SO COOL I WANT SOME!!" when I was picking up my kiddos from school, the lady who puts them in their carseat was like "now tell me, what is in your hair?! i think i need some of those!" and many more stories like those...
SO, i decided to get more feathers and spread the happiness and joy that feather extensions bring, and also to have a little income from this, since the only places you can get them in Nashville are too much for what it is. this required me to buy more feathers, and this is when i found out some very discouraging news...
due to this high demand of premium rooster feathers, there are none left! all the fly fisherman, who use these feathers to tie flies to fish, are so pissed and confused as to why all these girls are wanting to put these feathers in their hair. all the people i have got feathers from before jacked up their prices in the past 2 weeks from $24.99 for 20 feathers to $39.99 for 20 feathers. WTF!
i just won't stand for this :] so i am taking matters into my own hands, and i did TONS & TONS of searching & finally found soemething that will work even better! I ordered some fly fishing, premium hand selected rooster feathers from (secret) and Jacquard's Acid Dye in 6 colors! I'm going to dye the feathers and then I'll be up and running!
you can WASH, BLOWDRY, CURL AND STRAIGHTEN THESE!
they last for about 3-4 months and then it's probably time for new feathers :]
